Well hello there! This post will not be long… Its been so long an apology would be PATHETIC! hehehe….. My post this time has nothing to do with crafts… more my crazy obsession with my pets!!!

I’m sitting in a room with 8 aquariums filled with various beautiful animals I’ve adopted in the past year…. and so I thought, I should change my tank setups… and ended up with the topic of my blog posts for the next few weeks. I ordered 12 custom-built aquariums to give my lovelies a good amount of space to swim/crawl/be cute in. This is gonna be a HUGE job for me as I will be starting from scratch! I want to try some different aquarium designs and wanna know what you think!!!

And yes, I’m sure you have noticed that i have 8 tanks at the time being, and ordering 12!!! Oh yes…. be curious, be very curious!!!

I have so many brilliant ideas!!! And I’m super excited!!! It will be AWESOME when its finished…. but for now…. Goodnight!

Creatures of my bedroom

I was just sitting here, sipping on my cup of hot cocoa and then i thought, “Its been TOO long since my last post!”…. and my sister mannaire has kinda sparked my drive to start updating again…. Todays post will be nice and light…. its about what makes my room the funnest room in the house :P….

My room is…… lets just say… its full of life!!! LITERALLY! I share my room with the following….

quads

The Quads, my 4 baby Red Eared Sliders

these little guys are adorable… and although I agree they should be banned from the pet trade here in Kuwait… i just had to put their photo up!!!

Liam, My oldest Chinese Soft Shelled turtle

Liam, My oldest Chinese Soft Shelled turtle

Of all the pets in my room zoo… Liam has the strongest character… Mannaire my sis just doesn’t understand him…. hence the weird conversations she has with him… ill stop there! Next, my precious!

My Albino Chinese Soft Shelled Turtle, Gooey.

My Albino Chinese Soft Shelled Turtle, Gooey.

This is Gooey. His name came from the fact that everyone who sees him goes EWWWWW… so i thought… yea.. he kinda looks gooey…. I love albino aMinals!!! Seeing as not many people keep these guys just makes it that much more exciting to own one!!! He is fiesty tho! Not a cuddley pet.

My "temporary" Apple Snail enclosure

My "temporary" Apple Snail enclosure

I say temporary cuz im too lazy to move them into the bigger tank at the moment…. as you can see, in the back wall of the tank right at the top the snails have laid some eggs… i just love little surprises like that! Theyre quite relaxing to watch as their bodies move in a fluid floaty motion…. again, most people walk in and cringe…. EWW! so thats what theyre called :>

Last but not least…. the most important man in my life, the oh so famous, Woof…..

The Don Naughty-one!

Some say, “oh, its just a cat!”. Not this one. Check out Mannaire’s Post on Woof, the cat.

Small amount of scrap acrylic yarn, small amount of catnip, 3.5mm crochet hook, some stuffing, Jingley bell (optional).

Pattern:

Ch 17,

Row 1: sc in 2nd st from hook and continue till the end. This will make the tail.

Row 2: Next, make 7 sc in the last loop of the tail (ie. In last sc). (7st total)

Row 4: *sc in 1st sc, 2sc in 2nd sc* repeat 6 times. (21st total)

Row 5-7: sc in each sc

Row 8: sc in first 5 sc, sc next two sts tog. Repeat until you can just snugly fit your index finger into the top of the mouse. Stuff with catnip and stuffing (and bell).

*next we add the ears. Get another colour of yarn, join it to the outer lip of one sc, as we will use the inner lip to complete the mouse. Ch 2, then in the same sc make 2 dc, sl st in same sc lip. Next, sl st in the outer lip of the next stitch, and the one after. Next, ch 2, 2dc and sl st. tie and cut off.

Row 9: Continue with sc in 1st sc, sc next 2 sts tog, until you only have 7 sts around left. After which just sc next 2 sts tog until you are left with about 3 sts. Leave a 3 inch tail of yarn to seal and secure.

Weave in any loose ends into the mouse, et voilá!!! You have a catnip mouse!

Recipe for a happy tummy!

I know I had promised a new post by Friday but my internet was down so I apologise for that!

Onto today’s post, as I mentioned before, baby Guinness eats only wholesome, hearty, homecooked meals. I feel this way I know exactly what goes into his oh so topsy-turvy tummy. At only seven months of age, it is crucial a kitten’s food contains the essential nutrients to help him grow. This recipe can also be used with adult cats. Although I wouldnt change it,’you can cut out the milk powder if u like. So here’s the recipe I’d use normally… you can substitute the meat for chicken too!

Ingredients

200g Wholewheat Pasta (I use spaghetti ’cause its just easier for him to eat but any will do!!)

500g Minced Beef

3 Crushed Eggshells*

2 tbsp powdered milk (make it up into a paste with a small bit of warm water!)

1 cup chopped carrots

1 cup sliced green beans

3 tbsp soyabean oil

1. Boil the minced beef in a pot of water for about 25 mins. Drain. Save the water! You will need it in the next step!

2. Use the water from step 1 to boil the pasta until its just overcooked. It needs to be a bit mushy.

3. Off the heat, add the pre-boiled minced meat to the pasta, mix, then mush it up like mad with a potato masher!! Add the milk paste and crushed egg shells to the mixture.

4. Next, add the oil to a pan over low heat and add the vegetables. Once the vegetables have softened slightly add them to the other ingredients. Guess what comes next?? You guessed it!! MUSHY MASH MUSH MASHY!!!!

5. DONE. This recipe should be enough to last about 12 servings. I separate the mix and put it into disposable pudding cups and bung them into the freezer! The trick is to defrost one in the fridge one day in advance.

*Crushed eggshells = Wash and dry 3 eggshells, put them in the oven at 190 degrees celcius for about 20 minutes or until bone dry. Using a pestle and mortar crush the eggshells into a fine powder.

As mentioned in the previous post, you can add a couple of tablespoons of brewers yeast to the food once its defrosted. I use one tablespoon per serving, twice a day! (duh) Also, if you like, you can add 2 tablespoons of codliver oil to the recipe after the finished mixture has cooled down slightly. Codliver oil is rich in vitamin D which is great for growing bones! But please don’t try to be over-enthusiastic and add too much, it can be dangerous! You put your kitty at risk of vitamin A toxicity as codliver oil is rich in vitamin A too!

RESULT: Well… just see for yourself!

Farting Guinness

As entertaining as it might be to watch someone fart a pint of stout, this is about my kitten Guinness. You see, originally, I wanted to talk about my cat’s farting problem. After having written the title it comes to light that there isn’t much more to say than “my cat farts”. I could begin to describe the odd resemblance of the smell to rotten eggs amalgamated with curry sauce… but I won’t.

Instead, I’m going to tell you the story behind the farting kitty, this is where it all began:

“One Saturday morning after doing the housework, I decided to chill ax and spend some quality time with my handful-of-kitten, baby Guinness. He was only four months old at the time and smelled of cookies and dust. There he was, a ball of fluff lying tummy-up in my arms. As I leaned in to give him a kiss on his head I felt a weak contraction of my whole kitten accompanied by a loud sound, somewhat like the sound of a choo-choo train, and a whiff of morning breath. I was in SHOCK! How could a smell so offensive, so distasteful, come out of a ball of fluff?”

Something needed to be done. So I progressed to doing some reading here and there about how to make it all STOP! Then it hits me… there IS no way to stop a cat farting, but there are ways we can reduce the farting whilst taming the smell. It’s all about the diet.

Here are some tips on taming the MONSTERS of farts that your cat may emit:

* Avoid giving your cat milk, it disagrees with their digestive systems

* Try switching to a more organic diet like homecooked food. It’s friendlier to your pocket and you know exactly what goes into it!

* Feed him treats rich in fibre, like those intended for hairballs, or give him access to fresh clean grass

* A couple of tablespoons of powdered brewers yeast a day sprinkled onto his food helps reduce farting AND gets rid of fleas!!!

* Switch to dry cat food (my cat gets diarrhoea when he eats commercial wet cat food)

* Avoid cat foods containing corn, chicken meal and soybean meal, go for those that have lamb meal, rice and barley

I hope this was helpful to all those fart-generator owners but mostly I hope everyone reading was even a tiny bit amused
